BioMidi — Free Generative Ambient Synthesizer Powered by Nature
BioMidi is a free browser-based generative ambient synthesizer that transforms simulated plant bioelectrical signals into real-time music and MIDI output. Built by bsidez.
How It Works
Select from 27 simulated organisms — plants, fungi, bacteria, and more — each with unique bioelectrical response curves. Their simulated signals drive a real-time synthesis engine with 61 instruments, 102 musical scales, and full MIDI output. Press Play and the organism's bioelectrical activity becomes music.
Features
- 27 organisms: Monstera, Venus Flytrap, Mycelium, Cactus, Bonsai, Coral, and more
- 61 synthesizer instruments across pads, leads, bass, keys, plucks, and percussion
- 102 musical scales from Western, Eastern, African, Middle Eastern, and experimental traditions
- Chord voicings: triads, 7ths, clusters, quartal, open voicings, and more
- Real-time MIDI output via Web MIDI API — connect to any DAW or hardware synth
- Built-in effects: reverb, delay, chorus, shimmer, bitcrusher, tape saturation, limiter
- LFO modulation routed to filter, volume, pan, pitch, or delay
